slackel repositories on slackware.uk

Slackel repositories are now hosted to slackware.uk. I like to thank Darren Austin aka "Tadgy" the owner of slackware.uk for the hospitality.

For all like to use these repos they have to edit /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc to be as bellow

sudo slapt-get -u
sudo slapt-get --upgrade

Which will upgrade slapt-get and will set up slackel repositories on slackware.uk as default.

And now cron will ruin the fun of reporting a package which wasn't updated in SourceForge repos...

cron cannot run on slackware.uk. Not even sftp or ftp or ssh. Anything be done under rsync. So i have to run cron locally and rsync every hour to update repositories on slackware.uk. It means laptop has to be on power. But the good thing is that slackware.uk is fast. Plus that anyone can rsync the slackel repositories on slackware.uk so slackel can have more mirrors.

If you want to sync the complete Slackel repository you can just use:

rsync -a --del slackware.org.uk::slackel slackel

That will create a "slackel" directory with everything in the slackel repository in it and you have to do nothing else. Just make sure that this command is run regularly, so your mirror is kept up to date.
